Christmas Goose

Just a quick update on how the Goose is getting on with the Christmas tree.

Magic Mushrooms

I've given up waiting for her to be better, it's apparntly not going to happen until she's 18 or something and in the meantime, she's rapidly growing out of some of my favourite 6-9 months clothes.

Like these lovely Marks and Spencer's dungerees with mushrooms, flowers and mice on them and which were a present from her Great Auntie Janet (in that I bought them with the giftcard she sent her).

She's worn these lots of times, although very few were captured on camera and now she's getting so long they're turning into shorts I though we better get them photographed shaprpish, poorly or not.

You can see her nose is still a bit red and her eyes are a bit puffy, but she's still playing happily, trying to eat the power cord to the computer and standing up whilst holding on the fire guard.

Anyway, you can't really see the detail on the dungerees while she's all crumpled up (roll on the day when she can stand for these pictures) but in the meantime, here are a few of the details for your viewing enjoyment.

Yes, she may have had to sit on the floor in her vest while I borrowed her dungrees for these pictures but at least I put the fan heater on.

Standing, Clicking and STILL Not Updating Properly

We're almost better (and ready to break out the 9-12 month clothes) so we'll work on pictures this weekend.  In the meantime, another video.  Look who's learnt to stand up!

Please note, fleecy jumper from Next (via Taunton's NCT Sale) and crazy Jedward style hair.  Also note 3 old ladies thought she was a boy in Tesco due to her being dressed in blue, flowers and pink hood aside!

Not Exactly an Update

No new pictures due to repeated and cyclical  ill health.  Continuing to be alive is pretty much all I can be be bothered with right now but to keep Auntie Anna on side, I have 6 minutes of video excitement to share.

Please to note, Homes Under the Hammer soundtrack and sheep pyjamas from Auntie Heidi.

Normal service shall resume following the banishment of germs from this household.

Halloween Chic

I know it's all but Bonfire Night now, but we've all been a bit poorly round here (again) so the taking and editing of suitable Halloween pictures has been somewhat delayed.  I've managed it (although I suspect it may be the only thing I do) today though so now I need another lie down.

You'll have to let me off if I don't have many words today, let alone any interesting/witty/insightful/relevant ones so I'll just let you look at the pictures.

Just to say, our total outlay on slightly frivolous Halloween costumes has been a total of £2.50 as the witchy dress was already reduced in Tesco by 5pm on the 31st and the pumpkin top came from Sainsbury's this time last year.

Marmalade Sandwiches All Round

Today we said goodbye to our much loved, but ultimately neglected (and un-baby-car-seat-friendly), VW camper van Jaffa.  She's gone to a good home not to far from here where hopefully she'll get all the welding and bodywork she needs to carry on for another 37 years.

So we decided to take pictures of today's outfit in Jaffa, partly to record how old the Goose was when we sold her but mostly so we didn't have to get the camera out twice in one day.

Now you may question the practicality of white tights near a muddy/rusty old van, you might even question the practicality of white tights on a baby (or anyone else) at all but in fact they did quite well and made it all the way to the end of the day without looking too grubby.

You'll see that her lovely dress (which I bought from the 2nd hand baby clothes shop in Cullompton) has Paddington Bear on the front, thus bringing together my slightly tenuous Jaffa/marmalade theme.

Caterpillar's Last Stand

This is pretty much my favourite outfit she's ever had.

Sadly, both and it and the matching vest and legging are 3-6 months size and at a week shy of 8 months old, they're starting to strain at the seams.  So we have to face the unhappy truth that's she's really growing out of it.

I'm very sad to see it go, so we thought we should see it out and in style with a little stroll to a muddy riverbank on a sunny October afternoon.  The Goose took the opportunity to shove as many stones and moulding leaves into her mouth as she could and I took the opportunity to take as many pictures as I could, in between pulling bits of riverbank out of her beak.

So long hungry caterpillar, it's been nice wearing you.

UPDATE

She mastered the art of crawling yesterday, although she'll really only do it for the chance to lick my flithy shoes.  Here's a video:

Dolly Mixture

Well hello there, how are you? Today I am dressed in an outfit my mummy claims makes me look like a massive dolly mixture which is of course, exactly what I am.

The dolly mixture suit was a lovely gift from my grandparents when I was first born and came from JoJo (can't go wrong).  It's taken until now to fit me as the trousers are about 20 miles long,  luckily I am planning to be 8ft tall anyway so I am growing as fast as I can. It seems to be working as lots of people have been saying 'Isn't she long?' to my mummy lately, almost more often than 'what a pretty boy.'

You may also have spotted that I am wearing Sock-Ons for the first time because even though it is rather autumnal now, I think it is very amusing to pull my socks off all the time and then moan because I have cold feet.  These go on over my socks and somehow I just can't get them off which makes my mummy very happy.

I'm quite happy too, not about my socks particularly.  It's just how I roll.

Dartmoor Days

So here's her latest outfit.

Too far away you say?

Is this is better?

What do you mean too close?

There's just no pleasing some people.

That's better.  Here she is, sitting on the cold damp moor (we're mean) in a lovely dress from JoJo which is hopefully keeping her and her bottom nice and warm.  You'll see from the top picture that her tights are special high visibilty tights designed to attract the attention of the emergency services just in case she needs rescuing - for the fashionable, yet outdoors-y baby (just practising my Dragon's Den pitch, do you think they'll go for it?).

This picture doesn't really add anything, I just like it.  If you want to see more random pictures of her on Dartmoore click here.  There's plenty to go round.

Queen of Tarts

Here is a goose (she seems to have grown from a fuzzy duck into a goose) sporting her best dress and ready to impress on her first transitional visit to nursery.  As you can see, she's very excited about it!

The dress is from Mini Boden and despite previous claims made regarding the achievabilty of affording items from this particular outfitter, they did send me a £10 voucher + 15% off + free delivery which brought it down into a more 'George at Asda' price range.

It is really lovely and well made though (the pattern is known as jam tarts - hence the title) and so I'll just put one of every thing in every colour on the 'when I win the lottery' list underneath the big shiny Jaguar and the herd of alpacas.

In case you're interested, the visit to nursery went very well. She smiled and flirted with everyone and I am much reassured, although still dreading having to hand her over nonetheless.  Four weeks is ages though and if you include the Euro Millions that's 12 chances to win the lottery before it actually happens.  Everyone keep your fingers crossed and I'll buy you nice presents when we win.

Mousey Mousey

Excuses of lack of recent posts are as follows:
  • Illness (She's had a cold)
  • Tiredness (she hasn't been sleeping well)
  • Visitors (we've been out too much having fun)
  • Home improvements (I've not been able to get my camera)
  • Work commitments (I've concentrating on other things)
  • Hot weather (she's been wearing things you've seen before and she's almost grown out of).
  • Wriggling (she can't crawl yet, but that doesn't stop her being VERY mobile).

Pick your favourite reason from the list above and try not to think badly of us.  We'll try to do better.

So today, we have some fine mousey dungarees which I bought in last winter's sale from M&Co and I remember hardly believing she would ever be big enough to fit into them. But now she is and so she can.

As well as they mousey, the have sweet applique flowers on the legs like this:

And this:

There's plenty more dungarees in the cupboard so we'll be back soon.

'What a Pretty Little Boy'

Pretty?  Yes.  Little boy?  You might need to check again random lady from the Children's Centre.  My baby may be dressed in slightly gender non-specific clothing but at least I have her under control (for now) which is more than can be said for you and your child.  Overall, I think I win.

It's not even that gender non-specific really, it came from the girl's deapartment at Mothercare, the trousers are LEGGINGS and they're a girly blubell blue not a manly rugged blue. But don't worry, next time we'll go for something in inspid pink to avoid blowing your tiny little mind.

Anyway, I told you they'd be more dachshunds in all our futures didn't I?

Looks like I was right.

I win again!

London Calling

Flora may be Devon girl, but that doesn't mean she doesn't occasionally crave the hussle and bussle of city life (although she can't smile about it because she has sore gums from teething).

Actually that may not be entirely true and I'm not quite ready to tackle Oxford Street with her in tow quite yet. There is talk of taking her to see the Christmas lights this year, but talk is cheap and train tickets to London are not, so she may have to make do with Exeter (or Bristol if we're feeling crazy).

This outfit is cool though and the top has a dachshund on it which as you will come to see, means it's sold as far as we're concenred.  Either Mothercare have heard about this and are aiming at a very specific market (just us), or dachshunds are just cool.

I'll leave you to make up your mind which it is (this will be easier for those of you who have met Elvie).

I Like Leaves

Alternatively titled: Look at my tongue.

Nice, isn't it?

As are her hedgehog top and apple-y tights all of which came from Next and are part of her new 6-9 month sized autumn wardrobe.  You can't see how nice her top is when she's wearing it though, particularly when she pulls her skirt up in this unbecoming manner and consequently, the title of this post makes no sense.

Let me rememdy this.

You see?  Now it all makes sense.  Did I mention rain is wet?

Blame it on the Weatherman

You see the problem is it's been quite cold and wet here over this last week which means she's been in the handful of warm outfits we had in size 3-6 months most of which we've shared before.  Here's one we haven't though even though it's a good'un.

I love baby clothes from Boots and there always seem to be really nice things in their sale, probably because Boots is not the first place you think of to buy clothes.  You can't argue with £4.50 (plus 10 advantage points to the pound = 10% off) from the sale rack, particularly when an outfit is this cool.  I particularly love the ruffles on the sleeves.

Since the Fuzzy Duck turned 6 months on Wednesday (if you count it in weeks) or today (if you go by calendar months) we decided it was time to break into the trunk of more autumm-appropriate 6-9 month clothes.  Like these ones:

These are all non-sale brand new season purchses from Next but luckily we had vouchers so £14 on a faux fur gillet with rabbit ears was not quite a frivelous as it could have been.

Look how cute it is though, who could resist it?

Not me anyway.

We then moved on the one of my favourite dress and trouser combinations for Sing it! Say it! and Busy Babies yesterday.  This outfit came from Debenhams in Clapham Junction a few weeks before they went and looted it (and probably stole the rest of them) and was a lovely gift from Daddy (in that I used his credit card to pay for it).

That's an applique orange bird under her hand in case you were interested.

The only draw back with it was it made a couple of people narrow minded idiots think she was a boy.   Maybe back to the (insipid baby pink) drawing board?
